Employee Spotlight: Leading Petty Officer Yesenia Rojas

July 1, 2019

Tax Advisor Yesenia Rojas moved from Mexico to the United States when she was a little girl. She recalls seeing a bumper sticker that read, “Freedom Isn’t Free,” and grateful for the opportunities this new country afforded her, it struck her that serving in the military could be a way to express her appreciation. So, after she turned 20, Yesenia joined the U.S. Navy.

“The military has been a family for me, really, and I’ve been able to give back all while traveling the world,” Yesenia said. “Seeing how other parts of the world live developed in me a heart for humanity. We are so blessed to live in America.”

After five years of active duty, Yesenia transitioned to the Navy Reserves where – more than a decade later – she currently serves as Leading Petty Officer. As her own family grew, the Reserves allowed her to spend more time with family while continuing to gain new skills, experiences and see new parts of the world. She has performed maintenance on helicopters in San Diego, deployed for two years on the USS Ronald Reagan and traveled to Guam and Singapore on special assignments. During her time in the military, she’s learned about hard work, dedication and being an exceptional member of a team – all of which make her shine in her role at Wymer Brownlee. Yesenia, we’re grateful to have you – in our company, our military and our country. Thank you for your service!
